Interview with Horror Author

"CJ Henderson"

Δ  About how long have you been writing horror books?

I've written horror stories along with all kinds of genre stories for decades. But, horror novels began about 12 years ago with the Teddy London Supernatural Detective series. I think of them more as fantasy novels than horror, but that's because these days I think of horror as buckets of blood and sex with vampires, and I write about different things. My fans are happy, so I guess I'll keep it up.

Δ  What inspired you to become a writer?

I don't know that anything "inspired" me. You see, as a child I told stories under the street light at night to the other kids. In the 8th grade several of us started actually writing our stories down. When I got out of college, people started coaxing me to send stuff out for publication. I was always a story teller, it seems; I just needed some pushing to get me to be a published one.

Δ  Which one of the novels is the most frightning?

I have no idea what to say here. I don't think of them as frightning--certainly they don't frighten me. Perhaps the one where Teddy and his people face a werewolf. There's a lot in that one about the inability of most of us to escape fate, especially the destinies we create for ourselves. My readers might disagree, though.

Δ   Do you think that any of your horror books will be made into a motion picture?

Well, I certainly think they should be. I write with a very visual sense that I think will translate well to film. My stories seem to adapt to comic form very easily, so I'm thinking movies should be pretty easy. But, getting someone to folk over the cash, that's another thing. The Things That Are Not There, the first Teddy London novel, was optioned once, but nothing happened. Still, hope springs eternal.

Δ  Do you have any appearances scheduled?

AtomiCon, on Sun. July 30th, and then HorrorFind down in Baltimore. I do list all the appearances I can at my website, which is www.cjhenderson.com, to make it easier for folks to find me in person.

Δ  Where can my readers find out more about you and your books?

Again, just send them to the website. It has all the basic features,
like an FAQ and store and the such. If they have any questions, they
can just email me there. Thanks for asking!
